so im guessing that i can still join people from steam even if i dont have the steam version of the game as the games using dedicated servers not the stupid player hosting shit like MW2?

I can't gaurentee it yet because I've not tried, but I assume so. I think I read that a DICE representative on the (UK) EA forums says it works and that his colleage did it recently. The UK forums seem to be better informed than the US forums.

My mate has just come online. He's got a copy that he also didn't get in steam. I can't find how to join him. Will report back if I get any further, but atm it looks like you're right - you can't join a BFBC2 game via steam if you've not bought it though steam. :-(

have you tried getting the IP address from him manually then typing it into the ip box?

Add your friends to your friends ingame for BC2, then you can join them anyway. You can chat threw steam but adding a none steam product, it then overlays the steam ingame.

Rank 10 atm and having a blast. Got a little pissed off with the amount it takes to kill but starting to get used to it. Hoping they increase damage tho but i think there is a unlock that does increase bullet damage so maybe thats why its so low to start with?
