World's Smallest Transistor! |
Found this on the BBC news website:
Researchers have built the world's smallest transistor - one atom thick and 10 atoms wide - out of a material that could one day replace silicon.
The transistor, essentially an on/off switch, has been made using graphene, a two-dimensional material first discovered only four years ago.
Graphene is a single layer of graphite, which is found in the humble pencil.
The transistor is the key building block of microchips and the basis for almost all electronics.
Dr Kostya Novoselov and Professor Andre Geim from The School of Physics and Astronomy at The University of Manchester have been leading research into the potential application of graphene in electronics and were the first to separate a sheet of the material from graphite
Imagine what kind of compters we could be using in the next five years!!!!!

Virgin has been trying to calm the internet revolt against them for saying they would limit users' internet access for commercial ends, stating "We're not suggesting there will be any denial of access to those who don't want to pay." and then going on to confirm their previous anti-net neutrality statement: "VM could offer content providers deals to upgrade their provisioning if they want to ensure best access to to broadband subscribers.". They did not comment on their earlier statements about putting non-premium content providers on their slower "bus lanes".

BF: Bad Company, extra guns debate |
If any of you have been keeping close tabs on the upcoming game Battlefield Bad Company, you may have heard that EA were going to charge for the chance to gain extra guns.
This seemed to piss people off something rotten, and EA have decided that the extra guns will now be free of charge... There is however, a slight catch.

When I first started too think about this write-up I encountered many pressing issues such as 'what games do people prefer watching?' and 'what game gives the movie maker more scope for imagination'. These questions would ultimately determine the outcome of this Top 10.
Over my 4years of gaming I, like a lot of you, have downloaded many a shocking movie that just wasn't worth the e-space and yet, many a movie that has surprised and positively stunned me. It begs the question; just what does make a fragmovie so special? Just like different people prefer a different genre of film, different gamers prefer a different style of fragmovie. |

| HP Blackbird 002 |
Legendary system builders VoodooPC, who have 2 CustomPC Dream PC awards under their belt, were bought by Hewlett Packard back in September 2006.
Finally after a year of preparation, the Voodoo team in HP released their first PC this September, a beastly but not over the top machine that has caught my eye on various hardware review sites.
Here's a summarised account of what to expect of the Blackbird 002 series when they hit the UK in the next couple of months.
As far as the reviews have gone, the machine is by all accounts, high quality stuff, with the Voodoo team using the large amount of new resources available to them to make a beast that honestly makes me feel like buying a pre-built PC for once.
